What an amazing Saturday we had! The launch party for my art studio was a huge success and thank you all who came to celebrate it!

My favourite part of it was doing the mini workshop demo where we did some Christmas cards. My heart absolutely exploded with joy and happiness when I saw the parents and kids making art along each other and when I saw BOTH were actually enjoying the process I knew - I need to make more of these child-parent (or grandparent/aunt/uncle/big sister/brother) kind of events. What a beautiful way to spend quality time together! Who wants to join? ☺️

Can you spot who has a wet bum because they thought a little tuft in the water means land and thus they can jump on it and resulting in a big, wet encounter with the lake? 😏

Last weekend I got to spend 2,5 days with 40 amazing women from Latvia and Estonia to hike, enjoy the autumn, and share knowledge around the campfire. And I had the privilege to teach TWO workshops!

The first was "How to hike with your dog" and I was sure the allotted time of 3 hours was too much for us. Turned out the time went flying by as there was so much to discuss - dog breeds, preparation and training, first aid, and of course - dog gear! 😄

The second workshop was creativity hike with watercolors and although we had a bit of rain, that didn't stop us letting our inner artist out! It's my favourite thing in the world to show people how to observe nature thru painting. And my second favourite thing in the world is seeing how women get so engrossed in the activity, forgetting childhood art class traumas, and just letting the art come.

I'm really learning a lot about grief. First - it's never "just a dog". I've never lost such a close pet before and it hit me hard. They are a part of you, your daily companion and a close friend. Someone who relies on you to fill their day with love, activities and rest. You feed them. You potty them. You bathe them. For the outsider it's just a dog. For us, it's ... I even don't have a word for it. Family-friend-child-soulmate?

If you have ever lost a pet, I'm so sorry and I feel you. It's sad. And that's okay.

To cheer me up, here's a compilation of all the funny ways Odezza could sleep. On the couch, in the office, and when adventuring. When winter hiking I'd better hurry and make a bed for Odezza because she was so determined to find the softest and warmest place to lay down. She didn't even say no to a cupboard in a mountain hut, as that had the warmest blankets! But when needed she slept fearlessly in the snow, smartly curling up and warming herself with her tail. Can you spot her on the first picture? 😏

A week ago I had to say goodbye to my dear Odezza. Her health took a sudden turn and I had to make the hard decision to let her go. She fell asleep one final time lying on her favorite spot in our van, where she felt the most at home. Linkka was there, and I was cuddling her and speaking to her until she took her final breath.

I adopted her from the sled dog kennel I worked in North Sweden when she was 8. This summer she turned 11. Over the 2,5 years we spent together we literally drove across Europe from Nordkapp, Norway to Tarifa, Spain. We did many hiking adventures together, summer AND winter.

A retired sleddog, but still a tireless worker in a harness, and she continuously made me laugh about how she sleeps (I could do a whole album dedicated to her funny sleeping positions ). And an absolute sweetheart in every sense.

I am grateful for the short time we had together. And I miss you dearly.

My summer of many firsts. Last weekend it was time to check off my first overnight canoe trip. Chill 20-something kilometres over the course of 2 days, weather ranging from sun to hail, campfire bliss and the perfect company. It's all about the journey and not about the destination and oh god how good it feels 💙.

I think it was too warm for the dogs to take a long walk in the woods today. Instead of buzzing around they just wanted to lay down. So I found a log and just sat there with them, enjoying the silence and shade.

When I went to pick some blueberries and looked back at Odezza, she looked like a cute little forest fairy peeking behind that log. I just recently bought my very first tablet and back at home I got to draw out my vision 🧚‍♂️✨️💙. It was extremely fun and I'm excited to explore this digital way of expressing myself!

I was searching for a new activity to do with my dogs in summer and bought a paddle board! I had absolute faith in Linkka that she will be super okay with it, but Odezza... So I wanted to make sure she'll be okay, too, and took a full week to slowly introduce her to it.

Odezza was sceptical for the first 4 days, but then suddely made big progress on day 5 and now she's the chillest on the board! It's so fun to go out all 3 uf us together, i feel like a bus driver showing kids around and trying to take them to interesting sights (read: spots with lots of seaweed and plants so Odezza could catch them 😀).

Yesterday I was so engrossed in my little handcraft project that I finally went out for the dog's final pee round at 1:30am. I had no idea about the massive, once in a lifetime magnet storm coming towards us that made Northern Lights visible across Europe, including Estonia. I was so confused because usually when you see them in Estonia, it's just a green haze on the horizon. This time it was massive colors and straight above, making it feel like the sky is falling down.

I quickly openend my Aurora app and saw in my location - KP8. Okayy, makes sense. I think the strongest Aurora I've seen up in the North was KP 5 or 6. But KP8? Holymoly...

I stayed out for some time and observed the dance right at my backyard. And I have to say, staring at Aurora Borealis in comfortable +5°C was a treat 👌.

Did you get to see them?, The forecast is quite good for this night as well, keep an eye out! I use the app "Aurora forecast" to see the real-time KP and probability score, it's very helpful.

Ps: the photos are unedited, but the phone camera always exaggerates the colors a bit.
